Research
From a pathological standpoint, our aim is to contribute to the elucidation of pathology and function, the establishment of new diagnostic methods, and the development of novel therapies, with a focus on liver, biliary tract, and pancreatic diseases. In addition, molecular pathological analysis of the immune microenvironment during carcinogenesis and tumorigenesis of various tumors, including gastrointestinal diseases in general, breast, and respiratory organs, is underway.
1. Progression of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma
Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma is classified into Large duct type and Small duct type. We are analyzing not only morphological differences in tumor cells, but also focusing on molecular genetic differences, differences in the immune microenvironment, and treatment sensitivity.

2. Pathophysiology of Steatohepatitis
We are conducting central pathological diagnosis of MASLD/MASH, including multicenter collaborative studies in Japan and affiliated institutions overseas. We are analyzing a large number of human specimens and studying animal models to establish new diagnostic methods and biomarkers, and to elucidate the patpathophysiology.
